RHETORIC! II ISSUE: CHILD SEX TRAFFICKING

After our event and discourse with elected officials, I am concerned and almost appalled by the lack of knowledge, experience and priority on the issue of Child Sex Trafficking.

Children 10-18 are being pimped and forced into prostitution. I have never been a feminist but truly believe that women are best suited to push the issue.

All children, no matter how damaged - impoverished, uneducated, victims of poor parenting, etc. ( the most vulnerable) deserve an opportunity to be a child.

Furthermore, children in most states are being treated as criminals and not victims when identified as prostitutes despite being under the control of an adult in most predicaments.

According to "Not For Sale Georgia" a non-profit advocacy group that works to eliminate Human Trafficking says that here in Goergia there are 492 Girls trafficked each month.

I am calling on the current Heads of Law Enforcemnt to attend the next Rhetoric! event to speak on this issue, along with lawmakers. I will keep you posted on the results of the invitations.

TIPS ON PREPARING YOUR SPEECH

1. Your presentation should be a prepared speech, so please write it down on a large business card. You may read from your business card if necessary. Business cards and pencils will be available at the event.

2. Submitted speeches may be on any topic that is a current issue in the media, community, and/or government. Live speeches at the event should be on one of the pre-selected topics for the evening, if it is not, if time permits, you may have your speech recorded in the green room at the event for future viewing online.

3. Your speech should not exceed 3 minutes. It should be brief, and is likely to get more attention at the event and views online if it is brief. This is due to the style of our event and online environment.

4. It is suggested that you deliver a charismatic speech in a “solution-oriented”, “non-partisan”, “issue-focused” manner. The style of your presentation should be in a way of a proposal/recommendation for a solution that can be acted upon legislatively or civically. Suggested format:
a. Make a fact-based statement on the issue and its background
b. Why is this issue important?
c. Who is being affected?
d. What is the proposed solution?
e. What is the expected outcome of that solution?

5. There will be no Q&A session; however, we encourage you to stick around at the completion of your speech for at least 10 minutes for 1-on-1 discussions and to respond to questions from attendees.

6. If you would like to deliver a live speech, please try and arrive as early as you possibly can.

Please note: This is an open forum and not all elected officials or general attendees who come to speak will be selected. Speakers who are not specially invited to speak but would like to, are added to a box of names and names are randomly selected. However, all who have prepared a speech can record their speech in the green room during the event and it will be provided to them via email and posted online.

WHO ATTENDS RHETORIC! ?

The attendees are very diverse and the atmosphere is issue focused not-partisan focused. In attendance are politicians, celebrities, business & legal professionals and educators. Attendees tend to be ‘issuecrats” and progressive in thought, and that is what this event promotes.

WHAT IS MomentumUSA?

MomentumUSA formed in Washington DC by its advisory board, under the honorary counsel of Congressman & Senatorial Candidate Kendrick Meek of Florida in 2005, is a non-partisan, social group of business, legal and academic professionals; emerging leaders; celebrities; and elected officials. Participants collaborate as “issuecrats” who think progressively and utilize their insight, passion and experiences to come up with recommendations on solutions for current issues in the community and government.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF RHETORIC! ?

This event fuses together cocktails, music and productive discourse to create a focused yet enjoyable environment.

Utimately, Rhetoric! achieves the following:

· Creates an after-hours environment where elected officials make themselves available to their current and prospective professional supporters, outside of the fundraising environment and during a time of the day that doesn’t require the attendees to take off of work.

· Allows professionals to convene with their peers to share ideas, information, and to strategize on actions and solutions to local, national, and global issues.

· Gives emerging leaders a platform to formally present themselves and their positions on current issues to their peers and elected officials.
